Effective Techniques For Project Task Management
Today I’m going to talk a little about some effective techniques for project task management that are commonly used throughout the many projects that I’ve been involved with. Of course this is a simple list and not meant to be comprehensive, but keep in mind that applying some of the simplest fundamental techniques can be the difference between a good and bad project.
A project in the business sense somewhat disrupts the mundane dealings of daily routines. The aim of a particular project is to reach a particular goal. This is an endeavor that is taken on with a clear concept of what the final product will be, whether a document, construction or report. There are conditions set upon projects such as deadlines and budgets. Effective project task management techniques can help facilitate the endeavor from its inception all the way to its closure.
There are a variety of techniques you can follow when considering different management procedures. Every person has an individual style but each successful projects usually entail basic concepts. Concepts which include a clear objective/s, having a clear schedule, being cost effective and sufficiently distributing tasks among responsible partners in the process.
There are five basic guidelines to adhere to when you plan on undergoing a project. The initial phase, planning, follow through, management and closure. This step by step process can help facilitate the needs of a successful project. If you begin a project without the proper management techniques you are most likely setting yourself up for a number of difficulties.
1.) The initial phase may include brainstorming. Clearly identifying project goals is the first step in this process. Once the needs are assessed, and it is figured out what needs to be created or upgraded, a plan of action is created detailing steps for project completion. In this phase personal needs, equipment and budgeting occur. A schedule for anticipated completion is also stated.
2.) Planning follows. What is meant by planning in this phase is that an actual prototype is created. A miniature figure of what the final product will resemble is shown to all concerned parties, including financiers. At this stage items checked include details of the project. Satisfaction of financial sponsor is assessed at this stage. Alternations are made where needed, and assessments on whether it serves its objectified goals are made. Consideration for timelines and standards are also measured at this point.
3.) Putting your plan into action follows. This follow through step implements everything that was on paper. Physical change occurs or documents are created during this step. People and needed resources are put into action. Real change begins happening in this stage.
4.) Managing a project coincides with almost all of the prior steps but increasingly so during follow through. When the wheels begin turning on a project regular interval checks on progress need to be made in order to assess progress and spot and potential problems.
5.) After all of the steps have been completed and the project is finished it is now time to close the deal. At this stage all legal documents are drawn and signed. All loose ends get sealed at this point, and there is an exchange of acceptance on both giving and receiving ends. Contract closures make the end of a project official. When proper project task management procedures are followed you are likely to endure less unnecessary problems along the way.
